I am excited to introduce myself as a candidate for Alderperson in District 8. My name is Michael Stluka, but most people know me as Indy.
Wauwatosa works best when decisions are transparent, residents are heard, and we plan for the future responsibly.
I’m running to ensure our city government is open, accountable, and focused on practical solutions that strengthen our neighborhoods. That means clear communication, smart financial management, safe and vibrant streets, and thoughtful planning that works for everyone.
Local government affects our daily lives, from the roads we drive on to the safety of our neighborhoods to how we grow and invest. My commitment is simple:
You deserve to understand how decisions are made, why they’re made, and how they impact your family and your neighborhood.

I look forward to earning your support and if elected, working for you at City Hall!
Strong communities are built through collaboration. I will expand meaningful opportunities for residents to share ideas, ask questions, and shape decisions early, not after plans are finalized. Our city should work with neighborhoods, schools, businesses, and civic groups to find practical solutions that reflect local priorities.
Growth should be balanced, predictable, and aligned with our long-term vision. We need housing options that serve families, young professionals, seniors, and longtime residents, while protecting neighborhood character and infrastructure capacity.
Every dollar comes from taxpayers. We must use it wisely. I support clear financial reporting, long-term planning, and data-driven budgeting that protects services while maintaining fiscal discipline.
Bring forward new ideas and solutions to reduce our expenses, discover new revenue streams outside of taxes, and run more efficiently. Give residents more input on allocating resources to better invest in projects with greater community impact.
Public safety is foundational to a strong community. That means supporting first responders, improving street design for safer travel, and strengthening partnerships that prevent problems before they escalate.
Our parks, schools, local businesses, and infrastructure are what make Wauwatosa special. We must maintain and invest in them thoughtfully so they remain strong for the next generation.
Residents shouldn’t have to dig through complicated documents to understand what’s happening at City Hall. I will advocate for clear, readable reports and public scorecards so everyone can track progress and performance.
Open government builds trust.
Strong community builds resilience.
With both, we can move forward confidently and responsibly.
